it reminds me of Tool's Lipan Conjuring, that song feels stupid in the context of the album but it still gets way too much hate :/

I like I&W and Awake a little more but this is sooo good if you listen to it from start to finish.

I hope their next album is actually decent for a change :/

this, I&W and Awake are easily their top 3 but this is their ultimate best imo. actually i think almost all of their latest albums have been decent but nothing more, not expecting too much from the new album

The lyrics on this are soooo cheesy though. The music is an easy 5 but I have never been able to get into the concept. Myung writes decent lyrics but they've never been able to replace Kevin Moore in that area.

i find the concept to be really interesting. but yeah agreed, lyrically Moore > Myung >>> the other DT members

Yeah the concept itself is great, cos Petrucci came up with it originally and back then at least he was a great writer (not so much nowadays). But because the band members shared writing the lyrics, they aren't always the best, especially Portnoy and LaBrie's.

Yeah, I never liked Portnoy's besides some of the songs on his AA suite. I can't even remember which songs Labrie wrote but dear fuck, The Count Of Tuscany had some of the worst lyrics I think I've ever heard.

yeah The Count of Tuscany's lyrics are laughably bad. the AA suite had some sweet songs but The Shattered Fortress really sounded like Portnoy had run out of all ideas

Lyrics on their 90's albums are ok for the most part.

It's a shame The Count of Tuscany has such terrible lyrics as musically it's one of the best things they've done in recent years.

Yeah lyrically Petrucci used to be great, not any more. Myung and Moore were always fantastic, and Portnoy and LaBrie were always mediocre at best.
