"Jason Pierce said the new album is their last and it is "equal if not a lot better than Ladies and Gentlemen"
Doubt itll come close to this, but im still stoked.

If he's saying the new one is better than this I fear old Jase is back on the skag talking nonsense.

Honestly Spiritualized has a really solid discog. The post-Ladies... stuff has mostly been like garage rock stuff and the sound has peaked with Songs in A&E so I'm not totally sure what to expect with this new one

i think the discography is really patchy. the debut and this are both very impressive and Sweet Heart Sweet Light is a great record, but the rest are just ok/good but nothing more.

Disagree i think it's a super solid discog, only one album less than a 3

the non-Elvis lyrics version of t/t is so fuckin lame, they barely even tried changing the lyrics and the lack of choir just takes all the punch out of the last minute. maybe it's cos I'm used to the Elvis version but damn it sucks

i like it better, pierce's voice is heroin to me and its better on that version
i can see why you'd prefer the other though its more glossy

I guess it's just months of hearing the Elvis version over and over drilled it into me but the new lyrics just sound wrong and the choir is like what makes that song what it is yaknow

yeah exactly, the choir carries the OG version, but the non-elvis cut focuses more on the kaleidoscope of his singing, and at around the 2.30 mark he sings: "baby i'll love you today, i guess thats what you get, and i don't know where we are all going to" which for some reason is my favorite part of either of the tracks the way it contrasts with the other trackings of his voice

but i'm not gonna play off the fact that both versions are among the most beautiful songs of all time

both versions are great, I personally sometimes listen to the album one at the start and then the Elvis one after Cop Shoot Cop. Just feels right to me, fits the whole cyclical nature of the record's subject matter.

Shit, didnt even know there was another version. Ive had the second version so im definitely biased towards it.

I heard the second version first, definitely prefer the original though. Totally agreed with TheSpaceMan that the 2:30 mark bit is my favourite. Gonna start listening to it like ash suggested though, solid plan

Always thought it would be cool if there was a version of the t/t that combined the two
