I’m exactly the same Doof although My Arms Your Hearse is great and I own Still Life which I loved a few years back.

I'll give this one a go - it has the most proggy cover art which scared me off a bit before

I’m sucked into that artwork like a moth. It’s one of me faves. 70s beardy material.

@SpaceJester: I actually burst out laughing when I read that, feeling rather dense right now. Not sure how or why they’re in that order.

While you're at it I suggest to add Pyre and Face in the Snow to the tracklist

I’ve seen there’s bonus tracks, I intend to, thanks. My Pale Communion is the same (obtained the same way), fortunately I wasn’t stupid enough to be jamming any of their classics in the wrong order.

They've started to hide some sweet stuff since Watershed. I still can't get over the fact that Derelict Herds isn't part of Watershed's standard tracklist... Opeth's final song with growls (so far?) is literally a bonus track

I don’t know if it’s cos I’m old or what but songs like Famine and Folklore melt face in a way the earlier stuff can’t come anywhere near.

Plus the ending of Haxprocess really is a beaut. Tie all that in with the opening and closing to the album and how the whole thing just hangs together on a lazy river of subtlety and this has 5 potential it really does.

Musically this is absolutely one of the band's best albums. It's kinda like the prog version of Orchid or Morningrise. Very free-flowing and loose with a mysterious and sinister atmosphere. Maybe not a 5 for me, as I do gravitate toward their earlier sound more, but a late-career classic for sure.

Get in Zak, this one is perfect with a nice glass of whiskey as you sink into the sofa and let the warm atmosphere take over.

It is indeed awesome to see Zak so enthusiastic.

Sigh, I guess I should give this another, another try.

On first try I liked this despite still not totally warming to the vocals

This grows massively Doof. It’s one of the richest albums out there.

Walked through the door, this has been delivered. Off out in me car for an undisturbed drive in the country to listen to it in full and probably give it the 5 it deserves.
