I'd like the new album and the last couple to be mutually exclusive

I like all the last three but I wish Sorceress had better production and the bonus tracks were on the album
Think I’d put them in place of Will O’ and maybe Era?

All i remember is being on the hate train that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore

I think the hate train is still in full (maybe half) flow, it’s just that a few people have come around to the realisation that this is actually worthy of praise in its own right. People are over the Opeth aren’t metal anymore thing, which helps. In fact PC/Sorceress make this appear more desirable, to me at least.

PC and Sorceress being more simple and pedestrian also make this look even more unique and adventurous in comparison. This isn't in my top 3 favorite Opeth albums, but it isn't far from top 5.

Oh yeah, that’s definitely part of what I was alluding to with the last sentence, I just didn’t elaborate because I feel it’s something that we’ve covered a few times by now.
I just played this again and it holds up nicely, took Pleb’s advice of giving it a rainy day spin. Haxprocess is still my fave but The Devil’s Orchard and Nepenthe stood out as particularly enjoyable as well.

Nice! Nepenthe is amazing.
Do you guys like the intro? It's heavily inspired by this amazing Swedish jazz composer (who also wrote the intro tune for Pippi Longstocking, haha!) https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/66194/Jan-Johansson-Jazz-Pa-Svenska/

This is so embarrassing but I’ve been jamming the tracks in the wrong order all this time by the way... it’s one of the few Opeth records I don’t actually own and my file bizarrely has an alternative track-listing. I didn’t notice, so maybe the ordering isn’t the worst but I’ve always considered Slither to be an odd closer. Oh man.
Ah well, it gives me something else to try and ‘experiment’ with now, haha

Watch out for those transitions. I wonder if it’ll seem less free and quirky if I now revert to the proper ordering.
