That and Heaven are the only two songs on this that get any level of hate. Maybe 451 too.

“No Control” is pretty obviously the weakest link, the generic grunge/alt rock sound really doesn’t do it any favors and the track itself isn’t a jumbled mess with the random hard rock outro and the other noises after that. The lyrics are pretty weak too. The only song that I feel basically the same about after revisiting this.

No Control is certainly a meat and potatoes kind of song for Brand New, but I'm glad they included it in here. The melody is just strong enough, and the emotional content is just hefty enough for me to get into. It doesn't compare to the great songs on this album, but it's a simple enough joy that I really appreciate it.

You're not listening to the album as a whole though. That song is very important in the piece of this googolplex puzzle. Concept albums 101.

Eh, imo using extramusical snippets to create a “concept” like this album does is usually an overwrought/kind of lazy way to make a concept album. Using them once or twice can work to add a certain context but here the way they’re interspersed mostly just make the album feel slightly disjointed for me and the ones on “No Control” are probably the worst in that regard.
