Did 5 spins tonight and I think it's an excellent record, but no way in hell does it top KNY. The hooks, melodies, intensity - KNY packs the full punch. I think the hype will die down a bit after a few days. Settled on a 4 for now but who knows, could grow or wane in time.

KNY is my fav Deftones album so if a new album by them is significantly comparable to it then the hype might be real. Sounds like i'm guaranteed to feel a 4.5 on it for many years. THATS HYPE BRO!

KNY is also my fave Deftones album, and if you're anything like me I highly doubt you'll think the new one "takes a massive dump" on it.

Woah, haven't seen Pika hyping an album in quite some time now.

I don't want it to beat KNY I want KNY to have a younger sister to join the middle child KNY, and older brother Diamond Eyes, family.

KNY sports some of their hugest, most memorable songs. There isn't a song since KNY that reaches the heights of Entombed's chorus (especially towards the end of the song). Leathers and Tempest also are among their absolute best, and What Happened To You might be their best closer. I'm all for hyping the new album but it's perplexing that someone who likes peak-era Deftones thinks KNY is meh.

Entombed, rosemary and graphic nature are top-tier deftones tracks

Rest ranges from okay (leathers, tempest) to disposable (swerve city, romantic dreams, what happened to you)

Imagine thinking What Happened To You is disposable. That's one of their best choruses, esp after the bridge, that shit breaks into the stratosphere. Romantic Dreams is one of the only songs on the album I don't care for so I get that, but Swerve City I'll never understand. That song might have their coolest bridge ever.

Yeah, I honestly can't see any Deftones fan not liking Ohms at this point. I can imagine it not being a favorite for everyone, but it should be at least a 4 for almost every fan imo.
