Every member is amazing here, but fuck man, Frank is the MVP this time around. His synth work is out of this world.

don't think I'd call it snw pt 2 like I've read a million times today, but it definitely is a very spacey deftones album, and is much better than this. its spacey in a way that feels different for them , @ track 5 I'm pretty sure I wanna call it more ~raw~

For me it's both Abe and Frank. Abe does some of his best work here easily. Steph, Chino and Sergio however are firing on all cylinders too though

Honestly think Ohms is closest to S/T

I don't think anyone called it snw part 2, at least I didn't when I was initially hyping it. I said it had moments that reminisced of snw but also moments from their whole discography. Either way currently much better than their post-snw trilogy for me and I like those albums for the most part

The main difference between ohms and s/t is that ohms is far more energetic and positive than s/t, but it does have that heavy crunching atmospheric feel.

Yeah I definitely get the comparisons to s/t but this still sound much more modern than it at the same time. Like they've even lifted a bit from Gore and made it more palatable. Closest blend overall is for sure s/t and SNW though, no doubt. Even Genesis and Ohms sound great in the context of the album. I wouldn't have picked them for bookends personally, but still.

its definitely far less formulaic than i anticipated. some of these vocal parts have thrown me off but in a way that makes me want to listen again. they make sense melodically but are not like, catchy

My early thoughts are that it could be their best album, Pompeji brought me to tears.
