Haxprocess would make my top 20 Opeth songs, if not top 10.

Funny how this is so much better received now than it was at release. Wonder if that trend will continue with the next two

I personally like Pale Communion just as much as this, though for different reasons. It’s a slightly different beast

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. I didn't really like it when it was released, about a year later it clicked like crazy. That didn't happen with PC or Sorceress though.

Same, I can listen to a song from Opeth a few times a year and that's good enough for me. And yeah this thing got torched when it was first released lol. Crazy how time changes things.

Likely different people perhaps?... also it was probably quite a shock to the system for some given the change in direction.

Nope it's just bored people who are still trying to breathe some life into this.

I think it took a while for me to digest this, it's very complex, layered, unstructured. The newer ones are way flatter, more boring.

This was my first introduction to Opeth, which blew me away as much as its reception. It actually took me longer to realise the genius of MAYH, Still Life and BWP.

Watershed and Ghost Reveries are amazing, epic and all that, but have some flat moments. Namely Porcelain Heart and The Grand Conjuration, and some other sections of songs. Imo

And while I'm vomiting opinions, I think Morningrise has great moments, but very messy as a cohesive whole

I still have yet to return to Morningrise, Orchid, and MAYH tbf. But so far everything that ive returned to aside from Watershed and Ghost Reveries puts me to sleep out of boredom.

Then you won't like those I think!

But isn't a 1.5 veeeeeeeeery harsh? That's almost the worst of the worst, and they've never been that bad by a loooooooooong mile.
