The fact that Pika has GR 1’d and this album 4’d will never cease to amuse me

I had the pleasure of playing The Lotus Eater to a metalhead friend who had never heard an Opeth track. His face went through many stages of excitement, it was a wonder to behold.

No surprise there, lol. Grand Conjuration was my very first Opeth song and I heard it in middle school... I remember being so stunned at what I was hearing with all the crazy twists and turns. I didn't grasp all the nuances of the music back then, but in hindsight, that was an amazing start to my journey with this band

Yeah I'm not a total fan of Opeth keyboard, but that is a cool little intermission

Lotus Eater, Eternal Rains, Atonement, Burden, Nepenthe are some songs that have awesome Opeth keyboards.

I like when they use keyboards more for atmosphere like they did on GR

And Hammond Organ, and the Rhodes as well. GR was Per's best ever performance for me

Definitely. Especially when you hear these songs live and he sings the high harmony parts with Mikael as well

I think I need to listen to this again. I always thought it was great up to and including Burden then after that it is forgettable aside from some weird reversed vocal thing I remembered not liking somewhere
