Finally got around to spinning this. Needless to say, I'm impressed, though maybe not as impressed as a lot of you fine folks.

i'm so disappointed they didn't do a instrumental track like U,U,D,D,L,R. something like that in the middle of the album would've been so nice

Agreed. If there was one more instrumental song on here I would not complain. But as it is, this is still hittin me hard. Can't wait for my vinyl to show up :]

GmemberKills - I did a throwback spin tonight of SNW all the way through, and I agree I love the break of that instrumental on that album but I have to say the instrumental codas of the two middle epics nearly scratches that itch for me - plus the opening and beginning of Headless give me enough of that KNY spaciness I love

I'm still confused how fantano thinks KNY is their most revered album.

Idk man KNY is held pretty high and on RYM where he belongs it’s third highest I believe after WP and ATF.
Also yea SNW is king

I respect the look and guidance, but I would flip those first half/second half metrics completely around and I then I'm in

I feel like this album is a barometer for me just not being as into this genre of music as I used to be when I was younger. After a couple of listens I'm in the 2.5-3.5 territory with it. I think TSOM is where things start to pick up, I really dislike Genesis and Ceremony (god those chorus vocals are so bad) so the first impression here wasn't great. Some of the guitar riffing, ex: verse of Radiant City and beginning of Urantia, gets too cheese for me. The production on here is definitely good, though. I'd question if anyone calling this AOTY has actually listened to much other music this year.

DW still kicks the piss out of their discography, for me at least. And I simply cant stand SNW for some damn reason. Not for a lack of effort on my behalf tho, I have a hard time with a lot of their discography. I think this sits at a comfy #2 spot between DW and WP all things considered.

KNY is ranked last in a lot of big mags rankings released in the last year or two - which I couldn't disagree with more, but then there are those critical circles that jerk KNY off too. SNW is making a comeback from being a divisive cult album and I love it
