Totally true Talons. So good. Why aren't they using that more on their newer ones? We know they're able to.

Hmmm Pleb that sounds perfect.

Who knows.

I really like PC but that album and Sorceress seem to have very little personality.

They just feel very stiff and calculated.

Eternal Rains Will Come is their only song after this that keeps the style kind of intact. PC is way more subdued and bland overall, even though most of the songs are still good. Sorceress is kind of wonky like this album, but not nearly as strong or adventurous.

Yes. This is by far my fave of their last two. I guess we'll find out what happens in Autumn.

Always staying hyped for new Opeth even though they've been meh lately. It's gonna take quite a bit for me to douse all hopes that they'll return to form (whatever that form is) at some point.

Yeah, [2] hard. One misstep in 12 albums is quite the track record.

Haha Demon! The last two?

PC is still great in my book, with Eternal Rains, River, Faith and Voice all being really cool, and Moon having its moments.

Even Sorceress is pretty good. Just not by Opeth's disgustingly high standards.

My guess is it'll be as good as PC. This will most likely remain the best of their prog albums.

Yeah, that's a safe bet I'd say. Hope to be proven wrong of course, but I'm with you, they won't top this.

" rhythm section on this thing is unreal."

Lots of things here are hard to accept as reality.

This has some of their best material for sure, outside the big 3 (MAYH, SL, BWP) and GR. Folklore, I Feel the Dark, Marrow of the Earth, Nepenthe, Haxprocess, bonus track Pyre...

Yea it’s def my fave of their prog trilo so far, hopefully they get really whacky with the new one. Amp up the weird shit on Sorceress to the max or something without the filler, plus some sick instrumental freakouts

For sure, and Mikael had said the new one would be more twisted a while back. I'd describe some of this that way, or at least bizarre, so hopefully those kinds of vibes can return.

PC was too safe and bland at times, and while Sorceress was more adventurous it was also cheesy and had some of the band's lowest moments.
