Watershed is not necessarily underrated but definitely over-criticised. It's super good.

I love both, but GR is too serious sometimes

A depressing thought just hit me today after years of listening to this band, I am never gonna hear music as good as this again.

Sad times lads.

People here love the old opeth, as do I, but honestly this band was at the top of their songwriting game during GR and Watershed

True Eak, especially GR oh my goodness that album is a triumph.

A very sad thought Pleb. Who knows, it might be true, but it might be untrue. Imagine that. You'd explode from loving that hypothetical group even more.

I just mean music in general hahaha, not just Opeth's newest material.

It's a depressing thought, but you have basically the entirety of music history sitting there to refute that claim.

Someone will come along and change the game, as sure as you sit there breathing.

I gave up on Opeth long ago but I had concluded this was their magnum opus.

It has their usual clunky progressive-style songwriting but somehow it's cohesive, whilst Blackwater Park and Still Life are messy af at every change of pace.

Also, Akerfeldt's growling is his best here because it sounds EVIIIL, even though it's arguably his worst harsh vocal performance.

Hahaha Egarran that was a beaut, I'm happy I saw that 💞

All of those months in total terror.

It's one of their best yeah. So wonky at times (the keyboard parts in Lotus Eater for instance), but I feel that adds to charm of the record
