dude I think the choruses on Deja are easily the best thing about the album. Like I think Sic Transit’s verses are disjointed but the chorus is just amazing. Completely disagree. (2)

definitely the best produced bn album honestly, less muddy than those before it.

Yeah Deja is all about choruses. TDAG about the lyrics. Daisy about the intensity and atmosphere. SF about the legacy.

though I don’t want to undermine the genius instrumentation found throughout the latter three

Honestly "genius instrumentation" never comes to mind when I think of these guys, even though they're my favorite band. Perhaps genius in their timing/decision making as to when to create a certain atmosphere or deliver a solo, but to me that's more genius composition.

yeah, theyve got some really good instrumentation but i wouldnt call it genius. except for some of the stuff on Daisy, some of it im just like how the fuck do you come up with that and why will i never be nearly as good.

Honestly You Won’t Know has some of the most unique guitar leads I’ve ever heard, same with Limosuine.

actually I'll agree with that

great leads, but i dont see it that way.

Gotta disagree for the most part. The guitar lead in the chorus is generic to say the least. I can’t recall much interesting guitar work in that song except near the end maybe.

The most genius instrumental moment is on a song that they never even officially released; the solo/breakdown on "Nobody Moves"

Finally gave this a relisten last night. I definitely like it more than I originally did, but it doesn’t seem as consistent as TDAG and Daisy. I didn’t remember them from before but all the interludes are kind of annoying - it seems like they’re trying a bit too hard to create a dense concept sort of experience. And there are definitely a couple of dull alt-rock moments. But some of the songs I used to just like I loved this time (“137”, “In the Water”, “Waste”, “Batter Up”).

"In the Water" is a love yeah, possibly top 5 BN imo

I'd say it's definitely more consistent than Daisy but it depends on how you define the term. As far as quality tracks start to finish, Science Fiction lacks duds like 'Bed', 'Be Gone', and 'Bought a Bride'...it's pretty much the same level of good-to-amazing indie rock all the way. TDAG is probably equally consistent because it also doesn't have a bad song (maybe 'untitled').
The interludes I do have to agree. Even though they don't bother me personally, I never felt like the theme was all that realized. Perhaps it was meant to be unrelated/scattered recordings to create an overall creepy vibe, in which case it succeeds atmospherically. But certainly not conceptually.
'137' and 'In the Water' are definitely top moments; surprised though that you didn't list 'Lit Me Up' there. The atmosphere and lyrics on that are downright bone-chilling.

"Science Fiction lacks duds like...'Bought a Bride'"
a sentence has never confused me as much as this one
