LICKED THE CLIT AND SHE DID THE MACARENA
Wait wrong album

Lmao
Also new song is like the pinnacle of an artist going back to their “classic” sound after being far removed from it for a couple albums and doing a terrible job at it. It’s pretty hard to argue Kanye isn’t washed at this point, at least music wise.

| |
I mean sure but all of those albums were collaborative efforts aside from Ye. Nasir was terrible and Ye was the consensus worst Kanye album until Jesus is King.
And KSG and especially Daytona obviously rule but I have a hard time giving Kanye himself the same amount of credit for them as you'd give him for Yeezus/MBDTF etc. We all know Kanye is a great producer, arguably the best when he's really trying... but his rapping, songwriting, and just overall "vision" as an artist has been in the toilet for a while now.

| |
Eh if anything I think KSG made people like Ye more through osmosis + JiK being as terrible as it was made everyone appreciate Ye more and yearn for that Kanye again.
|
| |
“ but it's his only album with no shitty filler songs”
Millions would disagree
“I think people shit on ye at the time because they were let down by how good KSG and Daytona were.”
Nah it’s because unlike those two albums, especially daytona, Kanye doesn’t fill up the short runtime with potent material. It’s a mix of great and poor ideas jumbled into 7 short songs that sometimes hit and sometimes miss. I think it’s a good album but to call it more consistent than TCD, LR, or MBDTF because of the short album length is just bananas

Maybe I need to revisit Ye. Haven't tried it in full since the year it dropped cos I thought it was really boring bar like 2 songs

i either forget Ye exists or I forget Jesus is King exists - both only really have one track i revisit with any consistency but i'm a bit happier when i'm remembering Ye
also, kinda agree w/ the notion that it was a bit more of a letdown after the monumental successes of Daytona & KSG, and also may have been overshadowed quite a bit because of those as well

Pablo is probably his biggest grower, imo

This album grew on me bigtime after 1) Hearing it high and 2) Actually listened to the albums the producers in this album have made. Production on here is seriously insane

I'm always going back-and-forth on this record, but "Hold My Liquor" is probably my favorite song by Kanye. Genuinely startled me how much I loved that song when I first heard it and I'm still blown away by it to this day.
