Goddamn, I'm so glad they dropped this. Might be my favorite. I've been listening since yesterday non stop outside of taking care of family and work.
Then again I always think every album they've dropped is my favorite and still end up going back to Souls, Enemy, and Through Silver (Times too). There is something so fluid about this one though.

Is this a good album to start with Neurosis considering they're a band I should love on paper but never got into?
Edit: just saw Trilo's comment lol

100% in the same boat - they were always a band i respected rather than appreciated but this one has utterly blown me away. i feel like i'm finally hearing what everyone else was hearing.

They've always been one of those bands i can never get into outside of a handful of things or moments. This did it for me and has made me want to give it another crack. As always its a band hold respect for and know that without them there wouldnt be a lot of the Post-metal bands I love.

If only they would re-repress their whole discography.

Agree - new record on balance seems more approachable than any other song I have spun up from these guys

Listen number four is coming tomorrow and this just keeps getting better. I don't know if there's been an album that so perfectly sums up all the anxiety, anger and sorrow that the past like ten fucking years has brought quiet like this record.

I really dig that album cover

May be too early to say but for me I think this is a top 3 Neurosis album.

"I think it's perfectly fine (and even advisable) to skip the first two albums and come back to them later" (3 - counting ford's comment)
yep, I do think those albums (TWIL in particular as a precursor, cos it's really good) are cool to hear their origins and how they ended up arriving at Souls, but they are so vastly different to what's to come, that it wouldn't be advisable to actually start there imo - in other words they aren't 'essential'
Then again, I'm not in favour of complete 'discog jams' for larger discogs anyway, so cherry-picking is better in the first instance. If you wanna go that route instead of doing the whole hog, the easiest to 'cut' during the initial round(s) would be the first two and Honor / Fires.
