Does anyone understand the lyrics? They use so many obscure advanced words that I have a lot of trouble making sense of it.

Well to be fair Defeated Sanity does fit into that 'thinking man's metal' tag. I don't remember if it was a guy from Pelican or other Post-Metal band who said it but that tag suits a lot of metal acts because of their changing, slow-mid paced tempo combined with intricate melodies, complex songwriting and deep lyrics. I definitely lean towads that kind of pensive state inducing metal

I don't understand a single word here. But my highly evolved intuition tells me that these lyrics are quality.
The main attraction here is obviously the feeling of being thrown around by a friendly giant with ADHD.

But do you guys understand what the lyrics mean or does one need an advanced English degree?

"Physiognomy, from vision constructed
Rendered within the nucleus of humanity
Enigmatic, labyrinthian
Neurological pathways inconceivable
Familial bonds find home amongst the chaos
Emotions construct fragments of stability
Cranial trauma shakes the foundation of all we know
To be true and sacred
Severing violently all we once held dear
Apathy transforms into lunacy"
I have no idea what any of this means.

In all brutal honesty, I've gotten in a habit of kind of skimming over reviews and not reading every single word. I am extremely jealous of some peoples' abilities to not only hear minute technicalities and nuances in the music that I listen to and can't hear myself, but especially their ability to dissect the naunces and verbalise their critiques and opinions on said music. It's kind of gotten to the point where I have ignored whatever ability I ever had to do any of these things for so long that I don't even know if they're still there in my head in any capacity. My one and only terrible (in my opinion) review of Sororicide - The Entity allowed me to illustrate to myself my inability to do these things in an interesting enough way and kind of deterred me from ever trying to get better at it. I know it's kind of stupid to one-and-done quit, but I just felt after that like my place in these threads is kind of as the expressively-limited hype-man for the album, i.e. "album rules", "band is goated" etc lol. That, plus working full-time, raising children and having other hobbies outside of work have all been factors leading to my disinterest in technical critiques of music that I love, and by extension, my general disinterest in reviewing albums, and what a review of an album i listen to might say about it. So I apologize for skimming your rev. Long story short, it's a bad habit.
Sorry, super long boohoo story, im kind of a doofus and ill own it. I just felt there like I owed a bit of an explanation for the situation lol. Fwiw I did read the review top to bottom a bit ago, and it is a fantastic review.
