I really want to know who the heck Don’t Reach for Me was written about. Like there are a few lines on there (“that’s exactly why your daughter left”) that make it sound very directed and personal

"A fitting end for an absolute fucking clown" raises some questions too

clearly about a friendship that soured over time. Could also be about cutting off a toxic family member. My fave line in that song, "I let you get to me, you let it go to your head"

Seems to me like it as about a father who was shitty. There is some line about a daughter that ran off because of it? Maybe I’m remembering wrong but that song is so fucking good. Prob my fav off this

Seems like a spite in the sense that once you wither away old man, don’t reach for me. You had your chance and fucked us over, why would I help you up?
Pretty heavy

I guess it could be about his dad or someone's dad that he knew. I watched a few of his longer interviews pretty recently while waiting for the album and I don't recall him talking about who that song was about.
Also, is it just me? Isaac the guitarist scares the shit out of me. Not just cause of his demonic growls and his nasty breakdowns, the guy just looks really fucking evil in every video lol. I'm sure he's a sweet dude. He just has such a malicious intimidating look to him lol

Wait does he do the low growls? It’s not the main vocalist?

Bryan doesn't like doing lows, anytime he does them it's because Isaac talks him into it. But it's mostly Isaac doing them. The second guitarist also adds side-vocals, the mid-ranged ones, but he's used pretty sparingly. Anytime you hear beastly lows on this thing it's Isaac pretty much.
Blinding Faith when they go "bend the knee, child of god, EEEEEEEEEEEEE", that's probably the best moment on the record of all 3 of them pitching in vocals

What about the last 5 seconds of moss covers all? Because whoever does that is my new favorite vocalist. That timbre comes in very sparely throughout the record and I always want more of it.

That’s Isaac

yeah I feel like they've been using him more recently to off-set Bryan's chipmunk screams. They should find a better balance of vocals on the next release. Let Nick have more lines too

Ok well shit I thought that was the main vocalist just going lower. Good to know cause he fucking kicks ass with those low growls. Would be cool to hear more of that on the next album.

Yeah Isaac's growls are my favorite part of every song on the album where he uses them. They sound so malevolent next to Bryan's vocals.

Isaac and Nico both work great as backing vocals but I don’t really get people calling for Isaac to be a co-lead vocalist with Bryan (or even to replace him). The high-register animal noises are like 50% of the reason these guys are as big as they are and they’d lose so much of what makes them Knocked Loose if they leaned too far into the more run-of-the-mill growls.

isaac is their mvp but idk if id ever want him to fully take over an album. they should absolutely for the sake of experimentation try at least one majority isaac track tho
|

I like isaac in small doses but not sure I could take a whole track of him tbh
