Yeah. Like. Literally. Any. Genre. (at least bloc recognises this, lol)

“Thought this was plenty memorable especially compared to any dime-a-dozen prog death. Also riff [2]”

This clears most prog/tech death that I’ve heard. It’s not on the same level as like, the Horrendous record, but still some solid shit and yeah riffs for days

Album absolutely rules yeah. Sounds better and better with every listen.
Could not be a more perfect companion piece to Sun Eater

Idk I really wanted all aboard the hype train but find myself in the Demon line of thinking. Quite cold and clinical, prod not doing much for me, etc. Not a genre/style I’ve spent much time with though so could well chalk down some of that to inexperience/disinterest.

I mean I remember specific riffs, fills, and licks in specific songs tbh. But I've spent so much of my formative heavy music years on extremely busy music. Like I still remember the sound of certain Beneath the Massacre songs despite not having really checked out that band since I was in high school. Bebop jazz and adjacent subgenres can definitely be comparably overwhelming, you just gotta lock in.

Ya clearly haven't heard enough, then.
@asleep: I could understand feeling like this is too clinical or cleanly produced. The last Tomb Mold record is probably an example of progressive dm done with a rawer, more organic, and old school touch.

jammed the opener and tho im not really in the mood for it atm it beat ass so im gonna have to give this a proper spin when the stars align

Nah. Most prog/tech death sucks.

And 3.5 is correct

Kind of a bs statement, but go off ig. Most genres are about the same as far as the gold to shit ratio if your digging through 'em.

Album Rating: 3.5
I disagree, and applying “ratios” to subjective taste is gonna lead to some fucky numbers.

So we acknowledge its all subjective. Idk the music is clearly lovingly crafted and poured over, and it makes my brain tickle when it goes through me ears. I love tech and prog death in general, though I'm not looking for it all the time and, sure, there's plenty of mid to be found in dm period. I just need music with a lot of info to decipher sometimes, it's engaging for me in ways that other kinds of music can't quite replicate.

Though you can't really call them choruses, every song on here does have numerous sections that are repeated, which helps with processing the music. Honestly I'm more into melodeath but this and Undeath are some of the few that have clicked with me in this genre in the last few years

Good to see some staff not feeling dis
Not an ounce of feeling in these tunes
Still sounds cool tho

Tech death is very divisive. There seems to be one particular approach to it that a given person will like and anything even slightly outside of that one specific approach doesn't resonate with them.
I like Colored Sands but don't much care for Gorguts in general, which is blasphemy around here.
