I actually kinda baffles me this is at a 3.8 like still a great score but compared the the other 4 out of the first 5 it's a decent amount lower. Alot mfs heard the kick drum and just 3.5'd it prob didnt even finish it.

HiA is my favorite Immo but this album is damn close for me. Definitely wouldn't call it a step back by any stretch if I'm speaking objectively (i.e. in terms of songwriting, technicality, etc.). Production would be the only thing, but that's easy to overlook.

Songwriting its nowhere near as good at imo, and technicality its arguable whether its more so than HIA since Immo were never especially technical, just their riffing is DIFFERENT to most bands.

I don't mean to say they're "tech death" or something, but I'm also not just referring to their unique style of riffing. HiA and FFG are easily their most technical albums in terms of composition, instrumentation (particularly guitar and drums), use of odd time signatures etc. If you jam their other stuff, like DoP or even CtaWB, it's not nearly as technical (ofc that doesn't mean they don't rule just as hard).
This is def a bit more technical than HiA overall though, but that's really not what I meant in my original comment. I just meant that the songwriting and instrumentation is just as good as HiA, with the same sort of complex arrangements etc. Just as dark and twisted too (didn't say that, but probably should've). This album basically continues and, in many ways, expands on what they started on HiA, so definitely not a step back in my book. I probably could have been more clear but yeah. Of course, we'll have to agree to disagree @ the step back thing.
Oh, and just to reiterate: I'm definitely not calling this tech death. I don't think you implied I was, but just making that clear lol.
