Weirdest thing with this band is how distinctly Gen X (and even a bit Boomer on this one) their musical influences are despite the lyrical references being super Millennial/Gen Z. Kind of immersion breaking for me but I guess it makes them stand out from other acts in similar scenes.

I'm noted as not being a fan of this band, but one thing I will say is this: they really do make me think, a lot. In giving this album a try, there were numerous moments where I had to stop everything I was doing, take notes and reflect on what brought me to this point. I may not see the appeal but my god, was this album a thinker.

Really gets the neurons firing

@Boney I think that juxtaposition between the grandiose and the banal, the transient and the perpetual, is what makes them so unique. They're just a very, very clever band.

Eh, I’m not sure they’re as clever as they think they are and that’s kind of the problem. But that’s speaking more on For the First Time, haven’t really absorbed this yet and it may end up working better here for me.

Haldern, Concorde and Good Will Hunting are top 3 for me atm

Given the fact this band are two minutes old and the singer has left…time to just rip it up and start again?
Wouldn’t miss too much, they seem to be slowly getting a bit more listenable so hire a decent lyricist/vocalist and make an honest fist of it 👊
The first two albums could then just become future cult classics for your smelly sorts

They have the vocalists already lol it’s the other members. Good choice imo

I’ve never noticed any vocals other than the ones that sounds like a tearful weedier UK version of Conor Oberst and thought that was the same singer kicking ass and taking names

Not convinced they even need vox especially with their leaning even more into crescendo-y post-rock here

what would this band even be without vocals? they're the center point of literally every song. that's like saying pizza would be better without the cheese

This band will make 99% less impression without the quotable lyrics I imagine, just my guess but people do talk about them a lot

They’re certainly a big part of what make them stand out I’m just not sure it’s in a good way lol. But I have a feeling this one will grow on me.

The vocals here seem to work to punctuate climaxes, so to go the post-route would require compensating for that I reckon. He's not the best vocalist as has already been said, but he had a key role in my opinion.
