This crazy early average happened with CoL as well (deservingly so, may I add), that now sits on a relatively modest average. It won’t last, that’s almost guaranteed imo.

Will still end up comfortably above a 4

As the new guy in town, I gotta ask: Why does this rating stuff matter? The average will inevitably go down after the album gets released. And even if it stays higher than 4.1 so what?

Damn has it been 4 years since shrines!? Time flies...
So stoked to check this out. Have they flipped the script on the mastering? Despite being superb in compositions, shrines was like their most compressed release. Though one could argue it makes for an even more claustrophobic and dense sound

@Pollas Was leaked days ago.
Also on ratings and RYM, that site used to be rather biased towards rock, especially if you look at their top albums of all time, but nowadays they're more skewed towards pop and especially hiphop (just look at the top albums of the last decade), because you know, those genres are more popular now, than ever before and get far more (positive) exposure.

@BenThatsMyJamin
Sure, but it will also never be highly popular and it might become increasingly difficult for artists in the genre to financially sustain themselves, although that may vary depeding on where the band is from for example.
