E-40 has sold millions of albums worldwide and made songs with any rapper you can think of big or small. not to mention having a highly successful wine brand. just because you havent heard of them and theyve got low numbers on internet music rating websites means nothing

sites like these are inherently biased against anything whose target audience might not know or wouldnt care to use them in the first place. most of the people using them are nerds or at least immersed in internet culture (therefore young), many of them white anglos, and it shows in what the aggregate opinions ends up being as well as in what gains traction and following and what doesnt
sometimes this is good because it means kenny g is rated like the vapid degeneration of jazz that it is
most of the times it leads to underrepresentation and underappreciation of genres and bands. this includes a lot of edm. note how the most popular electronic shit on here and on rym is either ambient or muh "iNteLLiGeNt" experimental shit that appeals to those kinds of nerds, or conversely whatever mainstream crap is pissing them off on the radio like skrillex
it also includes a lot of local/regional scenes and what is otherwise known as "ethnic" music or genres that tend to be defined as belonging to a certain culture or region or people. a band might sell a million records in their home country and be genuinely famous there but fucking nobody here would know of them because theyre not from one of the usual countries

and judging from what i'm seeing, all E-40's doing now to keep himself relevant is collabing with wife beaters, TikTok viral rappers, and guys who write rapey lyrics lol
