branch is probably the only song on here that gives off good thrice vibes js

both hold up and branch are pretty whatever but they’re not everything belongs which sounds like church music

idk to me thrice is better than tuneless shouting and a chorus that abandons any sense of momentum halfway through

Branch isn't great or anything but it's definitely better than Hold up a Light or Everything Belongs imo

The only thing Branch has going for it is the outro. And yeah, gotta say Everything Belongs and My Soul are the two worst songs here, actually. Hold Up A Light is dumb as hell but it works in terms of what it's going for. Everything Belongs and My Soul are both just boring and have nothing else going on.
I mean, the sad reality is that Only Us, The Grey, Just Breathe, Blood on Blood and Beyond the Pines are the only tracks here that aren't some level of bad.

Dead Poetic was a great band agreed

"I mean, the sad reality is that Only Us, The Grey, Just Breathe, Blood on Blood and Beyond the Pines are the only tracks here that aren't some level of bad."
I mean, 4 of those songs are actively fantastic. I think My Soul is calming, Everything Belongs sounds like a Dustin solo song, and the other two aren't bad enough to drag this that far down.
But the lyrics took a turn for the worse here, definitely.

The only actively fantastic song for me is Just Breathe. Beyond the Pines has a lot of unrealized potential (also the best lyrics on the album by fare). The rest are good songs but not particularly remarkable.
But hey, I'm glad you enjoy this album as much as I wanted to haha

And likewise, I'm sorry you haven't enjoyed it. I know how much it sucks when you get let down by a band you really love.

Everything Belongs is awful because it reminds me of Coldplay

Believe it or not this may be better than my initial listens let on.

this has grown on me. i didn't like the production at first, particularly the drums, but now i dig it and i think it fits. the first half of the this is way better than the second half. only songs i'm not that into are everything belongs, hold up a light and blood on blood. a branch on the river could be better. beyond the pines is one of their best songs ever. this feels like beggars two, but not nearly as good. i also feel like their bridges need some work on here. they just pick a different chord progression than repeat some lyrics for twenty seconds, then go back to the song. definitely not their best work but some good stuff on here.

Beggars is still their best record, and the best record of all time.

How can you not love Blood on Blood? It's the best track on here, IMO, and it's stellar

Beyond the Pines is pretty great. The harder songs are still lacklustre to me though.

Blood on Blood is perhaps the only song that really re-captures the groove from Beggars and that alone makes it a 5 imo.

Yeah Blood on Blood is okay, not great. The harp part is cool I guess but the song doesn't really go anywhere.
