personally i also just happen to enjoy both this type of lush music & bjork's more direct previous stuff separately lol

Yes. There's nothing more boring than an artist making the same music album after album, and each of Björk's albums has had its own style and sound. Some have appealed to me more than others, but if I want to revisit earlier stuff there's nothing stopping me. Right now I'm really excited by the new stuff, and no matter how much I loved Vespertine or Biophilia or Vulnicura, I'm glad it's something different we're hearing.

do not throw shade at VULNICURA, that’s her best album since VESPERTINE in a walk.

Vulnicura blows ass. Weakest album since vesp

can we at least all agree that “artsy for the sake of being artsy” is the emptiest and most laughable possible evaluation of any form of art known to man? boilerplate for people who have no legit criticisms and are afraid to simply say “i don’t like it.”

i honestly have never grabbed onto anything as a highlight with vulnicura, it just sounds pallid to me. whereas with Biophilia at least i actually have melody recall for half the album

Stonemilker, Lionsong, and Notget are career highlights.

'is it crazy if i say i think biophilia is better than vulnicura?'
No, it is her best 'cover-to-cover' album since Vesp but yeah like Johnny said Vul has some stellar highs (not sure if they surpass Bio's mind).
I've stayed away from everything to do with the new album, I am tentatively hyped but have lowered my expectations significantly as a form of self-preservation

I, on the other hand, have no reservations lol

"Colton it's rly simple: crystalline is pretty and fun and experimental in the good kind of way, and really catchy etc, and the new material sounds boring as fuck and artsy for the sake of being artsy. It's more wood wind bs and strings on par with vulnicura which is an incredibly tedious album to listen to and utterly pales in comparison to the emotional heights of older songs like joga. You tryna break down the musical complexity as if that's a legitimate argument for quality is fking lol"
hey dingus, you're the one that said the new stuff is by-the-numbers compared to Crystalline which is one of her most basic songs. you're either moving the goalposts by a mile or you don't actually know what by-the-numbers means. jesus isn't real

also not finding Ancestress simple or focused enough is comical

I just love how every day johnny comes on here and lectures me about how my taste is too basic and soft and I need more experimentation to push my boundaries and then he starts crying "noooooo this bjork song isn't basic enough why is it not 3 minutes and doesn't sound like Rina Sawayama nooooo" and gyro sits and whines about the purity of her artistic expression even though bjork can express herself more authentically with her left pinky toe than gyro can with his entire body and several months of instruction from andrew tate's masterclass. well guess what boys, the rest of us are ascending to a magical fungal realm in t-minus 13 hours and you're gonna look really stupid when you get left behind. it's fucking bjork season get with it or get the fuck off the site
