Sowing, the opener will come around. It's about the most subdued on here, but it really speaks out in its subtleties.



The opening line:

"You said we're not so tied together

What did you mean?"



Maybe it's because I've had so many relationships drift apart after college, but the opening lines really hit hard.



"Why are we still out here?

Holding our coats

We look like children"



Love the imagery here.



"Hey baby, where were you back there

When I needed your help?

I thought that if I stuck my neck out

I'd get you out of your shell"



Can't ignore this moment when the piano kicks back in, the strings dip, and Matt's singing an octave higher. One of the more emotional little moments among all the softer ones, and we all might know someone like the person he's calling after.



1st song's ranked near the top for me. Still not sure about the album...sitting around a 4. It did get me to sign in here for the first time in over a year.

i used to adore this band but now matt's vocals don't really resonate with me any more, i can't sit through more than a couple songs from most albums before snoozerooing and this album only furthers me toward that objective. As if the title were any portent i will now nap and splay my linseed-oiled buttocks out to the every direction of his sauntering baritone in hope that they too, sleep well.
