I guess they're referring to 'pop era' Talk Talk not 'Spirit of Eden' era :/

My most listened to 2017 release so far which is odd. Love it.

It's a fantastic album. "Permeating" makes sense as a track but I don't like it's order and "Detonation" could have used a bit of a climax but besides that it's solid.

My most played 2017 release [2]

Detonation climax is an album highlight imo; that second half is bliss and reeks of Signify in the best way, especially Idiot Prayer and the t/t

I wouldn't have guess you like this album zak. Some tracks are def. growing but I still don't click with the most poppy stuff.

His real name is Stephen Wilton. He changed it after the 80's to avoid his cock-rock past with Mikael Akerstache in the 80's. Apparently he has people fooled with his new persona. Make no mistake, though. Steven's legacy will always be as a cock-rock legend.

Album alternates too much between feeling genuinely heartfelt and feeling extremely clinical

it's cause Wilson's too insecure to actually make some decent pop

None of this is really pop though. Even Permanating is more art rock than pop.

calling Permanating 'art' is a bit of a stretch

I think the layering and that guitar solo sort of challenges the idea of it being a pop song, or simple ABBA rip-off

just because it's inspired by ABBA doesn't make it an ABBA knockoff

Are you talking to beardog or me? Cause that’s what I meant in my comment.

I agree Toon, I loved the song at first but now I think it has way too much repetition and the melodies aren't as captivating on multiple listens

Yeah, It's pretty much straight up pop. I really dig the sarcastic, "Put on a happy face for everyone" message to it I just think it would work better after a song about social media or depression instead of struggling immigrants.

Been listening to this a lot last few weeks. Great songs on this one, although as an album it doesn't really work imo. Maybe he should have release two ep's or something? The sequence of the songs doesn't feel right. Some songs are great on their own but are very much the same as older stuff, this goes escpecially for the last song. One of my fav's so far is "People Who...". "Permanating" is nice but ultimately the album might have been better without it. I hate the bland kick drum sound on that song, compared to the great production of the rest of the album. However, maybe it will end up in my EOTY list, fanboy that I am...
