I think this album flat out terrible in about every aspect.

Load and Reload are far better than this. They both may be a bit lackluster, but at least they contain some good songwriting. St. Anger was just unfocused. Perfect example, look at the title track: did it need to be that long? There was no progression, basically all that happened was that the entire song was repeated three times.

If you want Metallica listen to ride the lightning or master of puppets. I like the fact that they are trying to go back to the old thrash metal thing. but this album was an insult to metallica. the vocals were horrible i think i can sing better than that. the guitar was WAY to novise for Metallica. i think its the end of the road for the band they just can't do it anymore.

Acually, I think most of this is good until the singing starts. They should have just replaced all the lyrics with matching lead parts. THat would have made a badass instrumental album.

The snare sounds nice in some songs IMO. I.E. the beginning of Frantic.
