Yeah no way Chevelle and Bush are on the same category.
The way I see it, comparing Chevelle to Deftones is like comparing Screaming Trees to Alice In Chains or smth... well, to me at least.

Y'know I've always liked Chevelle, especially for a three piece. They always deliver the goods, but they're just missing that special something. Their teetering between good/great, but never quite getting full reach.
I have nothing negative to say about these dudes, they're rock solid as always.. just a little nitpick I have. It's nice to see them go a little more outside the box on their last few lp's.. I'm still interested. And on a side note I think the Deftones comparison is ace and holds some merit they're both popular alt metal bands.. Who you think is better isn't really what Banana was getting at.

You always make great comments Jeff. I feel like they did deliver that "special something" with Sci-Fi Crimes and La Gargola.

Thanks bud. You're right though Sounds, y'know like I said I'm a nitpicky cunt sometimes. La Gargola and Sci-fi was refreshing. I'm really digging the newer direction they've been going in, it's cool. I'm a little more partial to La Gargola than this one, but still good stuff as usual. When I say that special something, I mean I know they're a good band, but I've always felt they've had more potential for even better things if ya know what I mean.
They have the consistency down pat and they've been experimenting a bit lately, so I'm excited to hear what's coming next.

These guys definitely have a ton of potential, they just choose not to use it

Haha I feel you banana, but the cool thing is these guys aren't slowing down anytime soon.
You get an album every two years and they're usually pretty good. I gotta give it to em' man, they're working, fans are happy. I can't say the same thing for a lot of bands; especially the older ones. They're not reinventing the wheel or anything, but the averages on all their albums are similar; they deserve a pat on the back. I wouldn't write them off as a one-trick pony either, they're delivering, and have been changing pace lately. Y'know besides the comparison there's some Chevelle albums I'd take over Deftones, but hey depends on who you ask. I know I like this one and La Gargola more than Gore.

I'd take quite a few Chevelle albums over Gore, but certainly not over DE, KNY and WP.

I agree Evo, but outside of that I think there's some room for an open debate. I know Deftones are the 'holy grail' for Altmetal on here, but I could see Chevelle whipping something up in the near future.
Deftones, I feel I've already seen at their peak. Not to discredit their post-pony material; It's killer. With Chevelle, I'm not too sure if I have and I believe there might be more to em'.. just friendly speculation.

I do wonder where Chevelle are gonna go from here, even heavier or more melodic again?

That's a good question, I'm not sure what I even call this one. It does seem like they're moving from La Gargola - present
It looks like Chevelle wants to stay on the heavier side.

I'd group chenille into three eras: first you got the, uh, I'm not sure what to really call it but I'd say it's made up of Point #1, Wonder What's Next and This Type of Thinking, basically their more 'classic' era I guess?
Then you get the super-melodic rock era which is compromised of Vena Sera, Sci-Fi Crimes (this being the peak) and Hats Off to the Bull
And then you got this more abrasive, heavy era of Chevelle, right now only made of La Gárgola and North Corridor
I guess you could say since the past two eras are made of three albums we could expect at least one more heavy album out of 'em or something

That an accurate way to look at it Tracks, but hey who knows. I'm thinking they'll keep some of the heaviness on their next release, but I wouldn't entirely be surprised if it was also and/or fully melodic either? Where could the Chevellians go next... ha ha
