i mean i cant NOT five this, considering loops are my favorite way to produce and construct songs/different sounds together to make beats out of, and while i was never a superfan or anything, his production style really influenced me without me even realizing, as well as the countless artists that have influenced me that were also inspired by him lol. honestly if it werent for dilla, madlib, peep, Clams Casino, MF DOOM, i genuinely wouldnt be here, let alone a writer/musician

hot take time, after many many years of spinning this on repeat and having it 5’d for a while, it has grown off considerably and i feel that it doesnt do a great job showcasing what made dilla so great (slum village, pharcyde production, madlib collabs and lots of his mixtape beats do a better job). this has some of the best beats of all time (dont cry, mash, stop, u love, lightworks) but the latter half has a bunch of beats that are honestly forgettable and kind of annoying (thunder, the factory, the twister, anti american graffiti)

Well yeah I don’t know how you could expect an instrumental hip-hop album to hold up to the best of his collaborative work but that doesn’t make it not one of the greatest instrumental hip hop albums of all time

Great stuff but it wasn't as great of a choice for background music as I hoped. It's pretty distracting haha

Twister and Anti-American Graffiti are bangers, that’s a bad take. You just played the album a ton and it grew off you. It happens.
