Man I love RHCP, but this album is....I don't know. Wayyyy too much filler particularly everything between "Slow Cheetah" and "Hey" on the first disc. Additionally, "Readymade" is easily one of the worst songs they have ever written. The whole album seems to has this yearning to be By the Way-lite (i.e. without the excellent pop melodies, carefully crafted arrangements and dense sonic palette that made that album so rewarding to listen to).
Still, there are some definite standout tracks here: "Dani California", "Charlie", "Slow Cheetah" and "Storm in a Teacup". Also, "Tell Me Baby" is ridiculously catchy.
Right now, this album is a 3.

I love Readymade.
I need to edit this review, as my thought of filler tracks has changed drastically. There's only really two songs i dislike as of now- We Believe and If.

This is a pretty good album. As many have said though, they should have taken the best songs and made it one disc. There are several filler songs on each disc. Sometimes I prefer Mars and then other times I prefer Jupiter. My favorite tracks would have to be Slow Cheetah, Torture Me, Desecration Smile, and Turn it Again.
One complaint I have besides the filler tracks is that they seem to have lost their funky edge. The funky songs on this album are lackluster in comparison to BloodSugarSexMagic.
I think that this album is a step up lyrically, but in some songs the vocals were kind of dull compared to other RHCP.

Id say no chilli peppers release past or present has beat bloodsugar for funk, but i still think the band would look pretty silly if they were still doing the same style, they ARE getting on a bit.

Readymade, IMO, really sucks. The riff is the standard plodding pentatonic blues-rock riff that seems to endlessly repeat, and when it needs variation the riff is simply doubled via guitars, which is fairly hackneyed in its own right.
As well the band sounds stiff as a board on this song. They sound completely out of their element. The soloing is ok, but it sounds like Frusciante is trying to jam a square peg in a round hole given the timbre of the rest of the song.

some good points, but readymade is more about rythm, oh and the guitar solo is freaking great

I like Readymade Although i think the 1st disc is 95876095 times better than the second. Not even exaggerating, ok maybe a little.

I agree with Zesty Mordant. I think Readymade is one of the most dull songs on either disc along with If. The guitar riff is the same thing over and over again and it is somewhat annoying. The solo is fast, but it's kind of boring. The vocals on Readymade are the least impressive aspect of the song. It's dull and monotone.

It really bothers me that Rolling Stone magazine said that this was their best album ever. It's nothing compared to BloodSugarSexMagik or Californication.

Yeah they said that. I think that Blood Sugar Sex Magik is definately better than this. Although i think this is at part with Californication.

Tell Me Baby is expected to come out on July 16th and 17th. I want to hear the B-Sides so bad.
