there are some good wimp bands, for example dinosaur jr
granted they got guitar solos and listened to sabbath and zeppelin so they arent as en vogue as the decemberists and father john misty i suppose

There are far more than just "some" Indie and Alternative bands that aren't afraid of a thing called lead guitar, including ones that weren't as obviously fond of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple as Dinosaur Jr or Soundgarden. Especially when you consider that the genres were built off of bands like that and didn't really degrade until like the 2000s. But I guess most Metalheads still haven't heard much Indie outside of the post-Arcade Fire, sanitized wannabe Psych Rock, and edge less Post-Punk Revival bullshit that sites like this and Pitchfork like to vomit 5/5s all over.
Though yes Dinosaur Jr are one of the best examples in Indie/Alt.

I have never listened to Father John Misty nor The Decemberists but I don't think I'll plan on changing that at any point. Indie Folk mostly is either trash or really just not in my interests.
