btw a 3 for this album is reasonable

Nah, 3 is too low. 3.5 seems reasonable. I gave it a 4 because I'm a big fan and I felt it was easily their best since Pinkerton. So perhaps I did overrate it slightly, but I'm still jamming this fairly consistently a year later and I still think it kicks ass.

This is a great album. And Weezer really only released two bad albums. Granted, those albums were fucking terrible, but still. Outside of that they're guilty of a couple of average albums, but their discog overall deserves a bit more credit. They're far from consistent, but there are bands that have fallen much harder that don't get as much shit as Weezer.

I have nothing to be embarrased for. My 5s are all at the very least 4s.

Lmao music is subjective, stop calling someone out because they might have a different taste to you.

Maybe they have nothing better to do tho I do admit I am embarassed for anyone pathetic enough to really go out of their way and post a teenagers 10 year old opinions on music as a valid point over a topic that is at least 90% subjective. If that isnt bad enough If I were to rate those albums today you would see none of those as 5s. Half of them were rated 5 becausr those albums simply accomplished everything that group could possibly do at the time.

another new single is dropping tomorrow. much like "Thank God for Girls", the title is not particularly promising. http://weezer.com/post/132413346637/surprise-new-song-do-you-wanna-get-high

Do you wanna get high? blows Thank God For Girls out of the water.
I'd love it if their next album is in a similar vein to DYWGH?

"I am embarassed for anyone pathetic enough to really go out of their way and post a teenagers 10 year old opinions on music as a valid point over a topic that is at least 90% subjective"
of course it's all subjective, no one here apart from potsy maybe is stating anything as a fact. it's just so dumb to put "imo" at the end of every sentence which is way the comments may seem like the opinions are stated as a fact

Do You Wanna Get High? is good. But it sounds so much like them in the 90s that it almost feels like a self-copy. That paired with lyrics that are nowhere near as personal and intimate as their 90s stuff puts it rather in the "decent" area than anything better.

I'm perfectly fine with Weezer revisiting the sound on my favorite album of all time. More 90's sounding weezer can't be a bad thing. I actually like the lyrics on this song, nothing to cringe at here unlike Thank God For Girls. I just love the vocal melodies and the distorted guitars. I don't have a single thing to complain about with this song, and I've been playing it on repeat all day.

Fair enough. Pinkerton is in my top 5, so something that would sound like it, would probably fare well for me too. And it is a good song, it's just that with its cleaner production and lyrics it imitates that style rather than transcending in the same way. Of course it couldn't, since Pinkerton was preceded by exceptional circumstances, but that might be why I think it is actually their only truly exceptional album.
