"But even a 4 is a bit much"
I don't think it's that far of a stretch to say that this release is excellent

I actually like the vox though and that's been a problem for me with ABR in the past cause I thought they were kinda
boring. I can't really tell you what's different, they're just better

Looks interesting. Never heard of these guys before but I will be checking this out.
Plus, that's some of the best cover artwork I've seen all year.

I love the spoken word parts.

I think that it works well in Spirit Breaker, even though the words are borderline cheesy; it sounds heartfelt enough to make up for it

Pretentious? It fits perfectly. They've gotten astonishingly better at smooth transitions between heavy, distorted parts and the slow, clean parts.

I don't understand why people always have to pin the blame on the band. Just because you don't like
something doesn't mean the it's inherently bad.
The general consensus is that this is a good album. So guess what, it probably is. It doesn't mean you
have to like it. Just try not to express your thoughts in a definitive way.

But then the people who like it tend to express it definitively. It cuts both ways man.

"I don't understand why people always have to pin the blame on the band. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean the it's inherently bad."
If you take someone's comments as what they see as objective truth, then I'm pretty sure that's on you. Very few people actually believe in such things on this site, it's just a hell of a chore to say "in my personal opinion, I think this album is not very good," you see? There's no need to clarify statements like that-- this is ultimately a music discussion site. Shorthand is inevitable, and helpful for those that understand it's just shorthand.
"The general consensus is that this is a good album. So guess what, it probably is. It doesn't mean you have to like it. Just try not to express your thoughts in a definitive way."
And are you kidding me? Pardon my french, but the general consensus doesn't mean jack shit-- you can't even begin to claim an album is objectively superior than another just because more people like it more than another. I'm sure you don't think Justin Beiber is one of the most talented singers, correct? Well, if what you're saying is true, then we should stop paying attention to August Burns Red because their fanbase is significantly smaller!!!

Jack Schitt is definitely a more germanic name though, isn't it?
