But I really haven't even picked up on most people saying that, the negative attention I've noticed is more of what Trebor and Noctus have been saying like that it lacks substance or that nothing new is being done here and there are other bands that they feel do the things Deafheaven does here better

who's bitching, Wiz? dude is just giving his opinion on why he doesn't like it. he calls it boring, so what, and how is that bitching in any way? all i see is strawman arguments from the people who love this as to why other people don't. the problem is not his reaction to the music but his reaction to other listeners who like the music. let's be honest, if this was receiving the amount of attention bm normally receives, he would have the same opinion of the music. but he wouldn't be going on about "fanboys" if the album had 15 ratings. hype has blown this album up to a degree i certainly wasn't expecting and it is legitimate to argue it doesn't deserve the hype (even though i disagree). if you don't like the album, that's cool. if you are acting like people who like the album are idiots, you are an elitist, and just as reactionary as anyone who checked this out because of hype.
