Considering the average age of their fanbase I would say probably not

Eh. BMTH's new record is okay, to say the least. It's quite the downgrade compared to the last two albums and there's some cringeworthy fat on there IMO, but still overall salvageable. Avalanche is one of my favs off That's the Spirit.

Quality-wise, sure. I prefer There Is a Hell... a bit more, though I gotta say this basically rules as well.
Perhaps I'm just a bit too optimistic.

Hey, if you think this is slightly superior, I really don't mind those sentiments. Still... It really baffles me how That's the Spirit earned critical acclaim everywhere but here. Seems as if we're right in the head or something.

Hey guys, can anyone... help me find a wayyyyyyyy to breaaaaatttttttttthhhhhhheeeeeeee?
Angel, I think "critical acclaim" is over-stating it a tad.
Ever divisive British act Bring Me The Horizon continue to evolve from their metalcore roots on 4th LP 'Sempiternal'. Certain to draw in new fans, the anthemic choruses are a huge surprise on this still heavy album. Furthermore, the recruitment of Jordan Fish adds some atmospheric electronica to proceedings. Not everything works, with the hybrid yell/sing vocals of Oli Sykes still needing work, while the lyrics (especially 'Antivist') too often recall Limp Bizkit. It won't convert the cynics, but it's a bold progression that should serve them well in the future. Recommended Tracks: Sleepwalking, Shadow Moses, Go to Hell For Heaven's Sake & Can You Feel My Heart.

I thought lyrics were alright on this. They look like masterwork next to TTS troff.

This album has their worst hooks
Pretty much every song has really wanky hooks that seem like they're trying really hard to stick in your head but just don't

plus the electronic elements on this are hella overpraised. one of the songs genuinely sounds like it has the shittiest flute vst in it possible edit: sleepwalking. sounds like some legend of zelda shit lmao

Like I know no one cares about my mini rant here but if this band ever actually had the art cred people like to pretend they have, they would've actually given snakes start to sing some room to breathe; they rushed the shit out of the structure and the vocal lines cover each other in awkward ways throughout. They've always been entertainment and That's The Spirit might occasionally be obnoxious but it's better entertainment overall and has slightly better hooks and production

That's the spirit is horrible and the production is worse than here.
This album was experimental and some newer metalcore albums wouldn't be the same without it.
The only downside to this album is House of wolves and antivist.

What there is nothing experimental here
Everything on here has been done before and thats ok

it was one of the first mainstream metalcore bands to do anything other than chug for 5 years on one album. That's more significant than you're giving credit for.
