well then youre in for a good time!

I also recommend the soundtrack for the 90s pc game Diablo 1 cuz it provokes the same atmosphere only even creepier and more ambient/abstract. probably wouldnt sound as good without the game to go with it though

sweet I had a buddy back in HS who was a huge diablo fan, so i know enough about the game to have reference. next time i need creepy ambient background music ill give it a shot

awesome dude it can be a bit tough for but definitely worth the effort, i could see you really digging some of the classics though once you break the sound barrier

Drums do sound pretty good. Which is sort of weird when the guitars are all KRRSHSSSHHKRRSSHHHH and the cymbals also add to the fuzz

So are saying Fenriz was all about the bass, no treble?

Production is fantastic, really.

Anyone else think it is insanely cool when Fenriz hit's his two drum sticks together throughout this album? I believe it is on the songs: Shadow of the Horn, Paragon belial and A Blaze In The Northern Sky. It is such a minor detail but I can't get over how well it was incorporated into the songs.

"sure you didn't just get a bad rip because on good copies of this and with good headphones, the album has all of those things. sure you're just not listening to 160kbps copy with ipod earphones?"

I use spotify (call me an asshole, I know).

Btw the music itself is awesome, I just don't enjoy it as much as most death metal because of how empty and distant the sound feels. Same thing goes for Emperor, and they're one of my all time favorite bands.

I think the emptiness (as you call it) is what adds to the atmosphere of the album, it feels more natural which is what black metal is at its core.

You could say any of their first 4 BM albums were the best and I wouldn't argue

Funeral was a bit easier to get into. This grew on me since I first listened though.
