Last Monday my high school where I teach two non-AP senior-year English classes with the same content and a film elective I invented to help kids graduate (essentially) fired the AP English literature teacher so now I teach all 80 seniors and have to prepare three sets of material for four classes anyways the previous teacher was beloved and kind of unduly fired but today for the 31 present students I did a “the college dropout 20th anniversary celebration” game where there was a list of like 20 literary devices somewhat but not totally arbitrarily priced by me like $2-12 and they split into four groups and each group had $21 and went around buying devices which they had to stick with and then I played we don’t care and they had to find every instance of the devices they chose until the song ended and I took the paper and then we did the same for all falls down and through the wire and every student was active (I promised a food prize to winners) and an assistant principal told me that upon leaving a student said “best English class ever” anyways how is everyone
