Ouch. Bold statement there, but I digress.

This is undoubtedly great, but Slayer did get better after this imo.

Yeah this is very influential, but we are all overrating it when it comes to the music.

Yeah now that I’ve reworked through all their stuff, soh is one album I’m planning to visit again. I think I may end up lowering my rating on it, and this may overtake it. Seasons, Hell, and Reign are undoubtedly ahead of this for me though

Yeah those albums are better, but this isn't too far behind. I 3'd this a long time ago but has grown on me since. SOH hasn't aged particularly well for me because that album is lacking some "wow" moments from Slayers other output although it's got some great tunes. Tom's voice is considerably worse on that album too.

Damn I thought it was pretty on-par with every song here minus the highlights I mentioned

Yeah I read that. Everyone else in Slayer agrees that Divine is their worst solely due to the production behind it. That's usually how bands are, they tend to dislike an album they made based on its production than how good the songs are or its cultural impact. Shame bc Divine is certainly not Slayer's worst

The low-fi production values have their charms tbh. Also helps the music itself is solid, and Paul's drumming is phenomenal.

"Killing Fields," "Dittohead," "213," "Serenity in Murder," etc. all rule. m/
