Im not shocked that your still a fag...

I wasn't even trolling you though. I was just saying I'm not surprised you like this. Plus, all you did was say "nope" and "no" to my opinion of the album. If anything you were being the dick.

Got around to listening to this and it's just horrid. I'm so sick and tired of bands using this same formula over and over again. Leave it to Meshuggah with this style alright.

I'm so fucking tired of idiots on this site saying that Meshuggah should be the only "djent" band. First off, Northlane is a completely different genre of music. NL isn't progressive/experimental metal. Just metalcore. Secondly, it's really quite dumb to only want Meshuggah and not the entire style of music they spawned, because were is the fun of that? Yeah, some "djent" bands aren't that great however a lot of it is pretty decent and damn fun also. Third, who fucking cares about a single guitar tone. Meshuggah is Meshuggah and Northlane is Northlane, stop comparing it all the Meshuggah. And lastly, Meshuggah isn't really groove metal, they have groove songs sure, but really aren't a groove metal band, just experimental metal.

I dont get the djent hate either. Thats like saying Metallica should be the only band to play thrash or Napalm Death should be the only band to play grind or Helloween should be the only band to play Power Metal, etc.

Point is Meshuggah was a unique enough band to inspire and influence new bands now who are putting their own spin on Meshuggah's sound. Kinda like every other subgenre in metal ever. Sure some djent bands suck but a couple of them are pretty good. Its like some of you dont even know what you want out of a metal band anymore.

Plus this isnt even Djent really.

K what? Metallica was one of the pioneer sof thrash were they not? You realize there were hundreds and hundreds of copy cat bands who popped up after them. Yet they dont seem to get any shit while if god forbid one band sounds a little similar to Meshuggah they're ripoffs.

its more about the band choice, i know how good they were back in the day, but also how awful they are now. if you had picked megadeth for example, that statement would be better.. just saying..

im not gonna get into that djent discussion because im not a big meshuggah fan and (like ive said before) i prefer NL's EP over this. it feels like a band trying to find their own sound.. nothing wrong with that. , i wanted them to evolve the sound from the EP, instead i got this album.. if you guys like it hey, thats just fine, taste is taste.

Warning: Essay below

Metallica was around before Megadeth Shuyin. Im not discussing who was better but Kill Em All arguably started thrash or at least popularized it, yet a million thrash bands who all mostly sounded the same popped up afterwards throughout the 80s. Why dont they get any shit? Even KILL's thrash list he just posted might as well be all the same bands save for a couple great standouts. Thrash is accepted though and metalcore isnt if you want to stay "trve". Thrash lists get a bunch of m/ m/ while metalcore gets lols. Alot of metalcore is generic just like alot of thrash is generic. Both genres have great bands though.

Its just funny how much hatred metalcore gets when thrash is also an offshoot of hardcore punk and had a bunch of copy cat bands too. Many metalcore bands have thrash elements on top of it.

It comes down to what do metalheads want out of new bands? Do you want another band just doing the same thing bands 20 years ago did? No because theyd be seen as ripoffs. Okay well what if a band puts their own spin on their influences? No they're seen as "false". So there isnt much a new metal band can do these days it seems. Theres only so many ways metal can be played and djent is just another slightly different take on it. Thats all.

Nobody has ever known what to really call Meshuggah (are they thrash, groove, death, prog, what?) so they're obviously unique enough to have their own little subgenre to me, kinda like how Dillinger helped create mathcore or whatever. You can argue if Djent and Mathcore are even legit subgenres but they do have their own distinct sound. Why should Meshuggah be the only band to play their style? As long as some of these bands bring their own flavor to it then go for it.

lol only fags care about being 'trve', any real metalhead listens to whatever the fuck he/she wants. and metalcore is a form of extreme music too, its just hated because most of the bands are either terrible or completely unoriginal. i cant speak for thrash because i dont listen to it that much, but denying the existance of good bands in the 'core' scene is stupid, even deathcore has good bands.

but hey i agree with most of what you said tho, i see 'true MH's' fighting with 'scene kids' all the time, but imagine the people that dont listen/dont like Metal, to them we are all drunkards, we all listen to garbage, yada yada.. maybe they understand Metal better than some 'metalheads' :P

Shuyin we should leave and let the fanboys jizz all over this like it's amazingly special when it's been done to death. Before people start getting pissed again I'm saying this because I've never seen such a thread get so butthurt over not liking an album they do. Get over it!

On one more note, maybe I shouldn't have said the Meshuggah thing because their are some bands I like that do their style. However, it's beginning to become a stagnant thing with very little bands doing this showing anything unique or something that hasn't been done before.
