Really strange how Cynic went from Metal to Indie sounding Rock. This album sounds okay. There's nothing particularly bad about it, but they try to make all their songs sound atmospheric and ambient, but they just end up falling flat.
I'll also put up this comment here because I agree with it:
"I think to be open-minded... but the new Cynic Ep is too much for me.
Ok, the progression of "Traced in air", ok the semi-acustic version of some tracks in "Re-traced".
But the pop-ambient oriented "Carbon based anatomy" isn't welcome. I just can save the last minute of the title-track and a couple of riffs during "Box up my bone".
Too few for a band that released a total of 116 minutes of music in 18 years. "
