diadem's great but it just drags way too much in comparison to two hunters which is way more diverse, engaging and in-tune with the atmosphere they wanted to create
and this is just a re-tread of that

this is better than diadem because the album is more memorable and doesn't drag in spots. it's perfectly paced.
this is better than BC because it doesn't all mesh together. i can actually differentiate the tracks on this thing.

i can differentiate tracks on black cascade just fine, and each of the tracks are fantastic (apart from the last one, which is just good). it's more straight forward but it works for what they're going for and it actually felt different to their other albums. this just sounds like a retread
apart from track 1 on this, which is absolutely fantastic, none of the rest follows the same aesthetic though :[

Well, for me, pretty much every single song feels pretty much like it could've been cut down in length. This band is usually successful when they try to create an atmosphere, but I feel like it just didn't work on this album and they're just repeating ideas over and over and over and they don't really go anywhere which then leads to me being bored as fuck. I've lost pretty much all interest in listening to this album and would never choose it over any of their others.

well for me it's the last half of the album that really drags for me. the dragging isn't unbearable, and it wouldn't be a problem if i liked the atmosphere here since i could just soak in it while the instrumentation plods along. but i don't, so i guess for me it just feels a lot less flowing and well paced. :]
