and Moss of Moonlight
Are they any good? I've heard of them but haven't listened for fear of it being lame as hell.

Listening to it now. Album opened with a burping noise, then hippie chanting.
Unsure of what to think.

"As long as 'Borer, 'Voices, Addaura, Lake of Blood, Alda and Skagos keep putting out good stuff, I couldn't care less what the rest of the "scene" does."
i was actually specifically referring to your "'Borer, 'Voices, Addaura, Lake of Blood, Alda and Skagos" ie the culprits behind the scene's overration

Idk, when I'm sitting at the BM buffet table "Cascadian" is more like a side dish.
|
| |
Well, if you know your way around the melodic Scandinavian stuff and the Euro Scene the Cascadian stuff kinda also loses a bit of it's appeal and I would disagree if with "modern" you mean pre-2000. (good example would be Darkspace)

I fall for Cascadian bm pretty hard.
|
| |
You've probably also not been into the BM scene for years. (that is not meant offensive by any means) I mean I'm not anymore either, but there's still shitloads of BM concerts/festivals around here and the French scene is basically visiting us permanently.
|
| |
i personally appreciate the scene in general because of its droning qualities (which i doubt is intentional on their part - its probably merely a side product of their varying chord repetitions)
and generally speaking the scene is pretty decent with some nice riffs and accessibility that does not offend the elitists
|
| |
but like a few users have pointed out its not on the same level as the euro scene eg coldworld october falls drudkh sun of the blind blut aus nord belenos etc etc etc
and the only band that's probably as good is panopticon which i believe isnt even in the cascadian region
so yeah, its without a doubt a promising scene, i just think we should be careful about how much credit we give it at this moment
|
| |
yeah i wasn't exactly sure where they belonged when i typed that haha
i mean its a improvised list yeah. they're the band with the tape across the legacy blood sth sth right? i heard good things about it, and i have it somewhere in my library, but i'm generally not a fan of tapes/demos so its pretty much been sitting there
|
| |
Yeah, Sif basically summed it pretty nicely. I also remember Valfunde (Peste Noire) strolling around on a Black Metal "festival" not too far from here, also pretty close to the French border.
|
| |
haha aite, i mean i trust the peer reviews enough to know that its decent, i just have to get over the
fact that its gonna have tape production
in all honesty though i haven't been listening to metal for quite a bit now and i do kind of miss it

I honestly didn't like this album at all when I first heard it. But as I got into more bm outside of Deathspell and Blut Aus Nord, I started bumping this hard.
