Yeah that's the reason I never really do, usually because unless it's a really long or bad release I can't remember much after the first listen tbh after about a week.

Then again, staff reviews take priority over user so mine still gets drowned out.

That's the other big thing

Something still confuses me...
before Vheissu's review for Rise Against, the flagged review was like 15 of 27, while mine was 15 of 15, while we had 6 of 6 and others like that, so what does the flagged review still the first one?
It was the same thing for Linkin Park - my 38 of 38 over his 42 of 49. Funny how it's the same person. The percentages are higher, and it's not just my reviews, it's like a sitewide thing, and I'm not sure how the percentages are calculated

I hated that too when I was a user, even a contributor. Because you put so much effort into something just to get maybe 10-20 comments, most of which are irrelevant. My advice is to find a niche reviewing albums that you know staff probably won't cover (obscure albums streaming via the weekly blog update will usually do the trick). You may even get featured then.
Hell, I still use that method now when I feel like writing but no major releases interest me.

Usually they forget to change it so it just stays that way

I did Bad Suns which got featured but no one really cared about it

and I was going to give a listen to the Bleachers album before you stole it from me, you sneaky little bastard ;D
|
| |
Also I usually review old albums no one's really gonna review, stuff like Swans, Black Flag, Big Black, or really just any sort of post-punk/punk rock kind of thing. Plus, I have a strong taste for sludgy metal (Neurosis, Godflesh, Eyehategod, etc.)

Well you can't control that. My Matt Kivel review got like 3 comments in 2 days of being featured
before people started pitying it. You just gotta roll with the punches and try not to care how much
attention you get for your reviews. Some will draw people in, others won't.

Review it anyway! Staff aren't some magical entity that disables others from sharing their opinions!
Even if you give it the same rating, who cares. If inspiration strikes, put it out there for everyone
to read!

I was going to listen to the Bleachers album for fun hoping hey, maybe I can review it for Sput but now that you got it my priority has decreased.

At first I was going to do Ride the Lightning but Chan already did one that I didn't want to rip off.
This #100 is a special once in a lifetime deal.

It needs to be a 5, and make it an epic 100th review. Idc if it takes a month to write, you only get
one chance to write your 100th review.
Well, until your 200th milestone but almost nobody reaches that (shit...my Anberlin review I am
posting tomorrow will be my 225th. #feelingveryold)
