This is gonna piss someone off, but World Without God's riffs are so uncreative and boring.

isnt it fair to say that the doomier stuff from this scene is mostly not as interesting as the riffy stuff?

re: world without god, some albums are better because they are simple (or the production helps elevate them) -> see undergang, coffins, etc.

Undergang get creative though. Simplicity is fine, just dont do the exact same riff thats been on a million other records all the time. Idk how many times i went to check out a band and that exact same four note tremolo picked riff i hear everywhere else opens up the album and i immediately lose interest. Just seems extremely lazy. Add a little flair or rhythmic variation, its not hard. Some generic shit is fine, there are times where a good song transitions into a riff thats been done the exact same way so many times but it works because it feels like an appropriate progression or transition, and builds on the momentum.

Anyways, thats enough shitting on the parade, sorry if im being too negative lol.

I'd agree that out of that Finnish pack World Without God takes the most blatant "osdm" approach whereas Adramelech, Rippikoulu...and especially Demilich all have their own tweaks to their sound

Wouldn't call Undergang that simple myself. Especially on their first release all of the tracks are basically riff-salads

Coffins on the other hand is extremely simple; one-two CF-inspired riffs per song...but they actually managed to perfect that formula lol
