I like this but yeah, the production or something feels a bit thin to me.

Hehe. It's all in good humour, Rowan.
|
| |
Yeah I know it's all good
But I still think Plant sucks, real talk
|
| |
listen to Moby Dick then no worries
|
| |
Yeah that's the best song on here for sure yo
|
| |
I personally can't understand how anyone can say Plant sucks, I mean look at how many singers have tried to replicate his singing style (that includes a good number of female singers as well as male), there's obviously a reason for that. I can kinda understand someone not liking his style but his vocal talent and influence is undeniable.

I like him when he actually exercises some restraint eg. The first half of Stairway, Battle of Evermore etc.
When he just screeches his head off and tries to hit those really high notes, I find it unbearable
|
| |
I think I actually like him best when he's at his most powerful, although I like his singing most of the time tbh.
|
| |
yea honestly this is the first time in my life I've ever heard of someone disliking him
|

"yea honestly this is the first time in my life I've ever heard of someone disliking him"
Lol that's.... pretty incredible. I'm sure as hell not the only person who feels this way
The rest of the band are A+ I grant you, but Plant stops them from being one of my favourites
|
| |
and man I exaggerate a lot on this website but I am 100% serious in saying that
|

I know tommy's not too fond of Plant either.
Plant was crucial in making Zep so distinctive. I honestly don't think they would have been as successful or as highly regarded as they are had they had a more generic singer. Plant was definitely more distinctive than Page who pretty much just ripped off other blues guitarists (all be it very well). Plant's vocal style was pretty revolutionary for blues rock and rock music in general.
|
| |
Yeah tom knows how I feel but he still loves Zep because he cares more about the instrumentals than the vocals which is opposite for me
Of course they wouldn't be as highly regarded as they are if they had a more generic singer, but maybe they'd be even more highly regarded if they had a better one? Who knows
|
| |
So basically what I'm trying to say is I find it hard to contemplate how someone can appreciate the greatness of Zep when they dislike Plant's vocals because he was a big part of what made them special.
|

Honestly I can't think of anyone who could sing this stuff better.
|
| |
dude David Gilmour could obv!!!

"I find it hard to contemplate how someone can appreciate the greatness of Zep when they dislike Plant's vocals"
Well then I probably don't appreciate them to their full extent because I can't see myself giving any of their records anything above a 4
I can imagine lots of singers who could sing Zeppelin songs way better than Plant could, although to be fair they're not from the same era
|
| |
I was thinking Jeff Buckley actually Lloyd
I know he wasn't even born when Zep started probably but dude he would fucking kick Plant's butt at all their stuff
|
| |
Bucks isn't nearly ballsy enough for a lot of zep
btw I was taking a shot at you having an unbelievable boner for all things Floyd but it seemed to fly straight over your head and now it's not funny

^THIS. Robert Plant is like the best singer from the '70s.
Honestly I can't think of anyone who could sing this stuff better.
Look up The Yardbirds' version of "Dazed and Confused", their singer sounds so horrible. No soul or passion what's so ever.
Robert Plant on the other hand kills it.
