This is always in my top 10 for '91 somehow. Between this, Awakening and Haunting Tales of a Warrior's Past, it may be one of my fave years for power/thrash.

A lot of the '90-'91 live sets that were recorded are incredible.

Very different from the little Iced Earth I knew. Nice.

This and Burnt Offerings are fucking amazing, essential metal listening imo. The debut is also good, the riffs are on par with this and BO, but the vox aren't great.
Dark Saga, Smth Wicked and Horror Show are great too, more akin to the 'modern' IE but better than anything that came after them.

First 7 album are all nuts. They go downhill after that

The leads are hardly ever an IE highlight, but I really like how they're used on this and Burnt Offerings. They've got this mystical and ethereal quality to them. They're used a bit everywhere and are low in the mix, but that makes the passages super memorable for me.

This still rips as hard as did when I first jammed to it as a teen. Just a terrific mixture of thrash and that agressive early US power metal.
