No less varied than Themata. Their strength lies in the consistently strong vocal melodies. It’s alt rock and not aiming for more diverse prog structures like on Sound Awake. Apart from The Drum, for me every track has a very catchy and emotive chorus or climax.

Saw these guys last night at their 1st ever UK gig. It was amazing! Really good energy and presence on stage. The singers voice is just as epic as on the CD and the drum work is mental!

I think my favourite chorus is Reaction, weirdly enough.

Apart from a select few tracks, I've grown somewhat unimpressed. Benzie's singing remains great as does the overall sound of the album, but it's just too one-sided and samey to hold my attention for more than two songs (three at max) at a time. I'm a much bigger fan of the self-titled EP. Please excuse me, I'm going to go and revel in the brilliance that is 'Sound Awake'.

I'll be the virgin in the room Billy.
That happens at every gig, no matter how many times you've seen the band.

Sound awake is better than this for sure, but this is still awesome

Why compare the two? No point.

How so? They're of the same nationality, the same scene and possess very apparent instrumental and vocal similarities. They appear to be striving to fulfil the same musical purposes (melodic, atmospheric and progressive in nature) and yet, Dead Letter just don't pull it off like Karnivool do.

Not that I care much about 'scenes' and all that bullshit, but a fact is a fact is a fact is it not?

They're both doing different things. And there is no "scene."
|

They are different. Sound Awake is more expansive, guitar driven and proggy but I still get almost as much enjoyment out of this.

i found them both a little underwhelming
so they're alike in that way

Eh, no point comparing. DLC write 4 minute catchy alt rock. Karnivool write expansive proggy stuff that doesnt necessarily have a huge chorus. Can't compare the two, and for what they both are. They're outstanding.

Tickets are in hand William. If I had any doubts, Closure in Moscow supporting was the clincher. What do you know of the 3rd act?
