"same. who the fuck listens to DT for the lyrics anyways..."

people who like to look past surface values I guess

"There isn't a single DT song which has decently written lyrics"

bullshit, this and Awake were great on that front

I meant I wouldn't consider any whole song to be impressive or worthwile on the overall lyrical aspect. Most of the time their lyrics still perfectly fulfill their role, and of course there are a few greater successes like Pull Me Under, Surrounded, Learning to Live, Under a Glass Moon, 6:00 or Space-Dye Vest

Ok yeah, my comment may have been a bit hyperbolic, but you'll have to admit that in recent years they've done some quite horrible writing

Oh their lyrics have been absolute trash for upwards of 10 years no argument there but I think they started out excellent

almost all of Myung and Moore's lyrics are superb, especially Wait for Sleep, Learning to Live and Space-Dye Vest, Petrucci is pretty solid with occasional hits (Miracle and Sleeper and Scarred). Portnoy and LaBrie were always pretty bad but they wrote very little of the first two albums thankfully. As soon as Moore went and Myung stopped writing they immediately started going downhill, musically and lyrically. It's also no coincidence that the one Myung song on ADTOE is the only worthwhile song there

It's up there. But I prefer Hollow Years (Budokan version) and Lifting Shadows Off a Dream over it.

Haha Davil i feel ya. I actually like a lot of DT ballads surprisingly. Would you consider space and lifting shadows ballads though?

Although they're a bit darker and sophisticated, it's still on the softer side I think.
