So staff nut-hugging aside, this album is really good, but anything past a 4 seems a bit... fan boy-ish. Agreeing to disagree, I guess.

"43% burnt tbh"

Haha Jesus Christ @ that song. The fucking guitar.

But I think I like this better than CI as a whole. I just got into Jane Doe recently and that was pushing the boundaries of intensity for me pretty far, so CI is something I'll probably really love at some point soon, but for now I'm listening to this and loving the shit out of it.

Sputnik tends to overrate albums, RYM is generally more accurate in that regard. I mean, lol at people giving this a 5 already.

The only problem with RYM is that they accept single lines of text as a review and that whereas the users here overrate they often underrate.

I'm going to say it: I Wouldn't If You Didn't is the new 43% Burnt. Shit fucking kills. Drums in the first half. Holy shit. I want to fuck Billy Rhymer now for that recording alone.

If "I Wouldn't If You Didn't" didn't have that clean singing middle section, it would probably be my favorite on the album and one of my favorite Dillinger songs period. It's not that I don't like the middle section, it's just that it doesn't really fit seeing as how the first minute or so is the most intense thing DEP has ever done.

I like contrast, so I'm down with it. If only CI has this album's level of production, sigh.

And, yeah I said it: Option Adam-Doll.

I'm all for diversity but I wish the clean part was up to par with the technical part.

Widower is excellent and Mike Garson is an amazing pianist, I always love his stuff when he shows up on random albums (see also the fragile)

Farewell, Mona Lisa reminds me of Indiana Jones for some reason. Especially the part with the clean singing in the middle.

This album is a serious letdown. Calculating isn't my style, Miss Machine is a masterpiece, Ire was a powerful step in a new direction, but OP sounds like old material, it's bland, meandering, and a step backwards for what used to be an innovative band. Nothing new, just refocused old styles.
