Honestly sometimes I think that Scaruffi likes The Beatles more than I do, lol.

I mean it’s also evident you know very little about hip hop but I’m not going to invalidate your entire worth as a critic because of that, provided you don’t make a habit of reviewing hip hop releases. Apart from Kamasi Washington, Fantano is good at staying in his lane

Eh, I wouldn't consider myself a good critic, that's the reason why I don't and probably will never write reviews. I'd prefer if Fantano didn't stay in his lane to be honest, I don't like his reviews but if I look at them from the positive side, as promotion of relatively unpopular artists, I'd prefer that he also promotes classical and jazz music as well. I highly doubt he has even bothered with actually listening to those two styles.

Asking someone to promote contemporary classical is asking allot.

I’m pretty sure he’s mentioned at least being a fan of the obvious classics like A Love Supreme and The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, which is better than nothing. Can’t speak for classical but I also doubt too many non-classical-specific critics are familiar with the genre at all, so it doesn’t really bother me.

Well, I guess that if you aren't a classical dweeb like me it makes that you don't really care about it. And yeah, I'm sure he has mentioned a few classics... The most popular ones, that I also really, really, really like, but come on, there's more than just those. Like, I haven't listened to a lot of new jazz because at the moment I prefer to get more familiar with lesser known classics like Wayne Shorter, Andrew Hill, Don Cherry and Peter Brotzmann, but I'm sure that there's good and new stuff out there.

True but the dude also consumes hundreds and hundreds of albums a year as his job so I don’t blame him for not checking out absolutely everything under the sun even for recreational pleasure

Yeah, I get that, but would it hurt to sometimes not listen to one of the many rock/pop/hip hop albums he listens to for a jazz one? Like, I know classical can be hard to get into and it requires a good amount of time, but jazz isn't that hard.
